This is the personal website for Mookie and his 'Mookenheim' bicycle collection.

Mookie at age 11 w/ his '60s Torpado

I am a 34-year-old bike mechanic from Tucson, Az. I have been a bike freak ever since I first climbed on my 'Green Machine' big wheel.

Some of the questions I get:

Do you ride them? Yes. They are all close to my ideal size and I enjoy riding all different ages and kinds of bikes. I've owned 2 unridden bikes - one I sold and the other I began riding. No parking on the dance floor baby!

Why 43? It's my favorite number.

Where do you keep them? They are almost all in storage, in a secure place (w/ extra care taken for the perishables like the silk tires). I rotate through them, riding one for a while and then putting it back in a box and pulling out a different one. The 43 bikes and all the spares fit in a one-car garage.

Are they for sale? Yes. Reluctantly, but yes.

Where did you find them? This would require a very long answer.. some were literally abandoned, found in the trash, or sold in thrift shops. Others have come from eBay, online classified ads, and cyber-buddies the world over. Many started out as wrecks looking nothing like they do now, and others I've had since they were new 20 years ago.

Are you ever going to display them all? I would love to. I dream of having a museum or gallery space where the bikes could be displayed. Let me know.. I'd do it for free if it were in a secure place where they could have an installation for a month or more.
